  Dress Code Assignment Draft 3

The Dean of OCC has released a statement that the board will discuss implementing a student dress code for the campus. Implementing a student dress code for college students in my opinion is wrong. Being a college student shows your maturity, so by the time you have reached college you should at least be able to wear whatever you want. The Dean wants a dress code that will establish the dress of ankle length attire with plain non-logo tops. This includes no short skirts or dresses above the ankle. No t-shirts with writing on them of any kind and no other attire with visible markings of class or social status. He believes this will make the students less conscious of their outward appearance and increase equality in the education that is provided at OCC.

I do not believe in having a dress code in a community college or any other university. Everyone has their own way of expressing who they are, and if someone like the Dean should take this freedom away that is like taking a student’s personality from them. The clothes people wear tell something about who they are. Some people dress different ways due to their culture. If everyone dressed in the same clothes everyone would look the same, and it would be rather boring. Some people use clothing to help start a conversation by complimenting someone on their shoes or their cool shirt. Having a dress code could be a big financial problem on a lot of families. Some people have to wear whatever they have, not everyone would have the money to go out to the store and buy a whole new wardrobe just to attend college. I believe that when people make their own money they should be able to buy the clothes they want to wear. Especially when they are in college. The last reason I believe that a dress code would be a bad idea in a community college, especially like Olney Central College, is because the people attending the college may take offence to someone making rules about how they dress. In college, the students are
old enough to make the right decisions on what they should and should not wear. They are not in grade school. The older students and younger students see things from different standpoints in life which makes a difference in this generations. There are many different schools that have tried to address this problem but nothing has come out of it.

As you can see there are many valid reasons to not implement a dress code. There is too much money coming out of the students pocket, students of OCC are now adults, and OCC is diverse campus with many cultures.

draft 3 assignment 1 The Day of 911

The day started out a good one until the first tower went down.
That’s when it all started. I took a shower, ate breakfast and was on my way to school. Everything was going smoothly until I went to my second period class, which was Spanish. Everyone was having fun learning Spanish until one of the football players came in and told us that the twin towers in New York were being high-jacked. At first no one was paying attention to him because the class was so noisy. When the teacher finally heard him she turned on the TV. All of a sudden everyone was quiet; it felt like a horrible dream at first. Then reality finally hit everyone when the principal announced what was going on. The class started to panic, because we were all wondering what was going to happen next. The final result was definitely a tragedy. All of a sudden there was tears in every student eyes. The only question that came out of everyone’s mouth was “How could this happen?” “How could this happen?” Even today I still ask myself that same question.

Later on the p.a. system, the principal told all of us to have a moment of silence for the victims that had died. Then it finally hit me that so many people’s lives were taken away “just like that”. I started getting scared, because I thought about my family members who lived in New York and Washington. At that time all I wanted to do was go home and start making phone calls to my family and friends. As soon as school was over I decided to go home and make all my phone calls, and watch a little bit of CNN so that I could get some information on what was going on. I turned on CNN and, at first it was difficult because everyone was so emotional. I was happy to hear that everyone was all right. At that moment I started to see how bad everything was. New York City was filled with dust, papers were flying everywhere, and things seemed out of place. Some of my family member that lived in New York told us that from afar it seems like a black cloud was sitting on top of New York, because everything seemed so dark and gloomy. That is a day I will never forget. The outcome of this event was tragic, but my family is strong enough to overcome all the hardships that life brings. My family is a strong family that can pull through many things as long as they can work together. I hope all of the families that were affected by this tragic event could be there for each other like my family would have been if we lost a loved one. I am very lucky to have such a supportive and loving family.

Although September 11, 2001 was a tragic day that changed our prospective of life, it also united us to defend our nation from terrorism. When tragedies like this occur all we have to do is pray. The reason why is because tomorrow is never promised to us. Life is full of so many ups and downs and all we have to do is learn to overcome it. September 11, 2001 was a tragedy that touched everyone lives in some way.

PORN STAR AIDS PROSTITUION ...........WHEN WILL IT END?
Why do people read newspaper? Everyone has their own individual reasons, but my reason is to educate myself and also to learn more about what is going on around the world. The article that I read in the Olney Daily Mail, Former porn actress leads fight against AIDS in adult movie industry. This article was based on a porn star that became infected with aids. AIDS are a transmitted disease that transmitted through sexual acts, blood, and also mothers passing it to their children while they are pregnant with the child. There is no cure for AIDS and in United State alone there are 1 million people with aids. I have decided to look at porn stars as well as prostitution and how they both should be made illegal.
Sharon Mitchell was a former porn star that lived a Boogie Nights life style. Sharon grew up in New Jersey by a wonderful and caring family. She started her first adult film when she couldn’t earn enough on Broadway acting. When Sharon first started acting in adult films nobody had ever heard of Aids because at that time nobody had really been educated on how people could get infected by Aids. Sharon appeared in more than 1,000 movies alone. She had a long career as a performer, director, and producer and gathered a shelf full of adult movie awards and a place in Hustler magazine. Although she enjoyed acting, she got infected with herpes, Chlamydia, and she was also a heroin addict for about16 years. In 1996 she was beat up by a deranged fan, which ended her “porn star” career. Sharon was not infected with AIDS during her career. Few years’ later Sharon returns to the porn industry with different roles like unofficial chief healthcare officer. While she was still a porn star Sharon was studying public health, which later earn her doctorate degree from Advanced Study of human sexuality in San Francisco, California She is now holder Ph .D. in human sexuality. She is also the cofounder of the nonprofit Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation. The annual budget for the foundation is $1.4 million; some of the money is coming from the adult performers. She felt that she needed to test everyone, because she thought of theses people as her friends and wanted them to be safe as well. Now producers are requiring actors to get tested for AIDS once a month, after 80,000 tests only 11 performers have been diagnosed the last case was in 1999, and only affected one person. She feels very strongly that the government should not make wearing condoms or enforcing safety rules on a set a regulation, because then they will just force an underground industry.
I disagree with Sharon and her views on the AIDS testing and what the government should do in order to protect it. She feels that the government should not make people wear condoms and that safety rules do not have to be enforced. I feel that AIDS came from porn and prostitution, in my opinion there is nothing different between a porn star and a person that just stands on a street corner trying to make money. What the real difference is that pornography is legal and prostitution is not, except in Nevada and Georgia. Prostitution, the granting of a sexual favor for material gain, is but the next predictable step in the sexual revolution. There are male prostitutes, but women are identified with the profession of prostitution and men are known as the procurer or the customer. By virtue of continuous propaganda that prostitution is victimless, more women and girls, thinking they will not become victims, become promiscuous outside of marriage.
According to Mark Leberator and his article, Legalize Prostitution. He states that, Decriminalization, according to those who seek to benefit from legalizing prostitution, or those saying that porno’s are ok, would free up the courts from having to deal with victimless crimes. Prostitution is now legal in the state of Nevada. Resort areas legally market prostitution and massage parlors, a new name sometimes used for brothels. I would think the state of Georgia would be reluctant to go into the pornography business as it did the gambling business, but since gambling money was used to educate children, would the pornography money be used for day care centers? Would the state ignore the immorality of how AIDS affects porn stars? Would the state ignore the fact that pornography is tied to prostitution and that pornography takes men from addiction, to escalation, to desensitization, to acting out through overt behavior? Would the state look the other way when it is proven that prostitution causes men to think of women only as objects to be used. Would the state ignore the pleadings of the church to uphold the sanctity of sex within the confines of marriage for the sake of men, women and children?
If we allow prostitution to remain hidden from view and basically invisible to the law as it is today, we allow a number of teens to be swept up into prostitution every year. When adult women decide to exchange money for sex, it is a personal choice open to them under the philosophy of a free, democratic society. When troubled minors who do not yet have the social survival skills decide to prostitute, they are often manipulated by opportunists who exploit these teens, typically leading to horrific ends. There are many benefits to legalized prostitution. The benefits include (1) allowing law enforcement agencies to respond to more important crimes, (2) freeing justice systems from nuisance cases, (3) helping women who are trapped by prostitution, and (4) preventing teens from being ensnared into prostitution. When data from countries that ban prostitution is compared with data from countries that do not, many startling discoveries can be observed. Countries without anti-prostitution laws have fewer murders, less rapes, and prosecute/imprison less people. HIV/AIDS is less of a problem; suicide rates are lower as are divorce rates, too. Low strata prostitutes clearly rest within the domain of the less fortunate, but the countries that cling to anti-prostitution laws choose to abandon these people and thereby negatively affect the crime, health, and general safety of those nations. One must reconsider whether or not those countries are truly civilized.
The perverted taste of sexual addiction sells. Pornography is a billion dollar industry with thousands upon thousands of web sites devoted to child pornography. There is TV sex, video sex, film sex, and sex in virtually every kind of publication. The pornography industry needs the legalization of prostitution to meet the needs of the sexually addicted, regardless of the infidelity, the sexual abuse, or the divorce it generates. There are those in pornography circles who are hoping our country will focus on the battle against terrorism and let up in our battle against indecency and obscenity, but prostitution and terrorism are not new. Nations have been plagued and weakened by both for generations. Prostitution should not be legalized in Georgia or any other state. The same voices that call for abstinence from drugs and tobacco should not be willing to allow any illicit and dangerous sexual behaviors to be glamorized or protected to the detriment of our children, our families or to society as a whole. We are trying to protect of children from drugs and alcohol, then why are we teaching them that sex is just a game.

The goal of many blogs is to give people the ability to get to know each other from their point of view of many different topics. Blogs are useful for many different reasons. Many people use blogs to talk with family and friends. Many people use blogs to express their feelings and see if there are other people that respond because they feel the same way on the views. I believe the goal of the author of the blog I have read is to explain their point of view on many different points such as the way they believe in school dress codes. The author has a strong point of view on many different events happing in public schools. I believe the author has achieved their goal successfully. Most of the blogs found are read from the most recent entry date to the first entry date written. I believe the author took plenty of their time in preparing this blog. I can not tell much about the author. In most cases books or everyday papers we read from the first entry to the latest entry and only one article at a time. The spelling and grammar used in this site is used very well. I can tell the author is a very strong minded person. I think the goal of the author has been planed and reached very well. I feel that the overall quality of this blog site is great and I would highly recommend it to other students. I think blogs are a faster and more efficient way of doing many simple tasks but it takes plenty of pacitients.

  Community Legend Part 2
The man who they thought was a nice and gentle neighbor was a murderer. His name was John Good also known as JG. JG has been living in their neighborhood for the past 10 years, way before Lisa's family moved into the neighborhood. To everybody, he was just a normal next door neighbor until the day he committed the murder. When the whole incident happened, everybody, at first, said that it felt like a dream. Then, reality finally hit the day of the funeral. They all thought JG was a well mannered guy, but every thing changes when alcohol is involved. It all happened on New Years Day, the day of fun they all called it . The day of the murder one of the good neighbors invited everyone over for some goodtimes, which was fun until they all heard the scream in the house. Everyone, at first, was unsure what was going on, but then one of the guest's came down stairs and told everyone what had just happen. The owners of the house called 911 because a murder had just accured. It was JG, he killed Lisa Johnson, his neighbor's daughter, who was only 7 year old. He killed her in the bathroom where he also raped her. When the police arrived at the house, JG started to yell out “I am sorry” “I am sorry”, he was later put in jail. After days in jail, JG finally confessed why he killed Lisa, he said because he was too toxic and also he wasn’t in his right state of mind. It was a sad day but everyone learns to move on. May her soul rest in peace.

  Assignment 3

To my fellow classmate creating a blog is very easy reason why is because it give a chance to express your ideas and thoughts on the web. A blog is a website that is created by people of all ages. Different types of essays are put on the blog everyday. This also gives the writer a chance to publish their work on the website, and also get feedbacks for the viewers. Now I am going to describe how to create a blog.
In order to create a blog you need to log on to the website, which is www.blogger.com . When the website pops up look for a section that allows you to create your own blog, this section is located on top of the screen. If you want to learn more about the blog you can click on Learn More About which gives you a chance to learn more about what the blog is really about. After reading over the Learn More About section, click back to the front page and click Start Now, this allows you to get started on your blog.Their will be a information sheet provider on the blog, this will you allow you to create a user name and password for your own personal blog .When you have completely fill out the information sheet click on Sign up. The screen will then allow you to create a new go back to the main page, on your right hand side click on create a new a blog. All blogs has to have a title, and a brief description on what you are talking about. Since all blogs are going to be public you need to keep it appropriate for your viewers and readers. Make sure to host your blog at blogspot. Address your name on the blog address for example http://gbemi02.blogspot.com so that it will be your blog address. Click the box stating that you agree to their term, which mean you are agreeing to all the rules and condition of the blog. You can later chose any looks you like for your blog. By this time you have created a blog of your own. If you desire you can email your blog address to your family, friends and of course your instructor. Make sure you read the instruction on how to post text.
These are the steps you need to know on how to create a blog. It is very easy all you need to do is go over the steps given. Creating a blog of your own gives you a chance to communicate with people from all around the world. This means getting reviews and comment from different places around the world.
